halfway

Year: 2023
Location: HONG KONG

1 July 2022 marked the halfway period agreed between the United Kingdom and China, by which Hong Kong would enjoy a status of self-administration for 50 years. The growing influence in the territory by the Chinese administration originated a wave of protests that agitated the social and political stability. Today, Hong Kong society is looking at the future through the lens of uncertainty, knowing its status quo, values and way of life are determined to change in the near future. Many are leaving in search of a clearer future somewhere else. The Hong Kong identity is facing the unknown, a scheduled transformation.
